The question everyone asks

Rollers, track or lock? Here is how to tell

Almost every sliding door complaint comes down to one of three parts, and the symptom tells you which. Worn rollers make the door heavy and drop the panel. A worn track makes new rollers fail early and leaves a groove you can feel with a fingernail. A lock that misses its keeper is usually the dropped panel, not the lock.

How it works

  1. Tell us what the door is doing

Call, text or send the form with your address, how many doors and a photo of the door and its bottom corner.

  2. Get one firm price

We quote the whole job from the photo. No trip fee when we do the repair, no upsell at the door.

  3. We come to you, same week

The truck carries tandem rollers, stainless rollers, track caps, handle sets and screen rollers for most doors.

  4. Run the door yourself

You slide it and lock it before we pack up. Payment on completion, workmanship guaranteed.

Door brands

Milgard, Andersen, Pella, Fleetwood and the old aluminum sliders

Every brand uses its own roller, and the 1970s aluminum doors across San Diego take a different part than a 2005 vinyl Milgard. We carry the common ones and know which is which from a photo.

Questions we answer every day

How do I know if my sliding door needs new rollers?

If the door is heavy to move, drags at one end, has dropped so the lock misses its keeper, or leaves metal shavings in the track, the rollers are worn. Cleaning the track helps for a week and then the drag comes back. New rollers fix it for years.

What does it cost to fix a sliding glass door in San Diego?

Roller replacement with Track & Roller Co. starts at $249 per door including parts and labor, with a lower rate for each additional door on the same visit. A stainless track cap starts at $199, a lock and handle set at $149, and an adjustment at $129. Glass is a measured quote. Every price is agreed before the visit.

Can a 40-year-old aluminum door be repaired?

Usually, yes. The 1960s to 1980s aluminum sliders all over San Diego take standard tandem rollers, and a worn track is covered with a snap-on stainless steel cap instead of being replaced. Unless the frame is bent or the glass is failing, repair costs a fraction of a new door.

How long does the repair take?

A roller replacement on a standard two-panel door takes about 45 to 60 minutes: panel out, track cleaned, rollers fitted, door re-hung, rollers and keeper adjusted. A second door on the same visit is faster. Track caps, handle sets and screen doors add 20 to 40 minutes each.

Which areas do you cover?

All of San Diego County: every City of San Diego neighborhood plus Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Poway, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar and the communities in between.

Do I need a licensed contractor for this?

No. Roller, track, adjustment, screen and weatherstrip repairs are minor work under $1,000 in labor and materials, which California does not require a contractor license for (Business and Professions Code 7048). We stay inside that line and tell you if a job needs a contractor.
